2. When you buy cold cuts, go to a delicatessen that slices them on the spot and one who uses a pair of gloves.
3. Read labels on nutrition information on packages and containers.
4. Chilled and frozen packaged foods should be wrapped in several layers of paper to minimise changes in temperature or have an insulated container with a freezer pack in the car.
5. When buying whole fish, select those with firm flesh, bright prominent yes, jet-black pupils and clear transparent cornea.
6. Buy fruits and vegetables as freshly as possible and avoid over handling, crushing or bruising as these reduce the vitamin contents.
